We, Illumination Research, are the owner and operator of www.illumination-research.com  (“Website”).  Your privacy is important to us.  We are committed to protecting personally identifiable information you may provide us through our Website. We have adopted this Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") to explain what information may be collected on our Website, how we use this information, and under what circumstances we may disclose the information to third parties. WHEN YOU ACCESS OUR WEBSITE, YOU AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY, OR TO ANY CHANGES WE MAY SUBSEQUENTLY MAKE, IMMEDIATELY STOP ACCESSING OUR WEBSITE. 

2. The Information We Collect
Personally Identifiable Information.  We collect and store personally identifiable information about you – such as your name, address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, place of employment, title, etc., when you register on the Website.   We also collect transaction and experience information, such as information relevant to the work you produce in the courses you take with us, and any other transactions with us, as well as information about our communications with you.  Examples include your student profile, account history, requests for information, and our responses.  We need this information to provide the goods and services that you request from our Website and to let you know of additional goods and services about which you might be interested.

Non-personally identifiable information.  We do automatically collect certain non-personally identifiable information when you visit our site – such as your IP address or the type of browser you are using, the search terms you use on our Website, the specific web pages you visit, and the duration of your visits. Non-personally identifiable information can include certain personally identifiable information that has been de-identified; that is, information that has been rendered anonymous.  We also obtain non-personally identifiable information about you from information that you provide us, either separately or together with your personally identifiable information. 

3. Use of Information About You
We use non-personally identifiable information in a variety of ways, such as to analyze site traffic (such as aggregated information on the pages visited by our users), which allows us to improve the design and content of our site. We may use your non-personally identifiable information by itself or aggregate it with information we have obtained from others. We may share your non-personally identifiable information with third parties to achieve these objectives and others, but remember that aggregate information is anonymous information that does not personally identify you.

In the ordinary course, we use personally identifiable information you provide solely to respond to your inquiries and to provide our services to you.  We will use your contact information to contact you regarding administrative notices and communications relevant to your use of our site.  Payments for our products and services ordered from us through our Website are handled by a third party provider.  This provider, as well as other providers, may collect additional information, including billing information, credit card number and expiration date, and tracking information from checks or money orders.  We may send you promotions and news about courses or other products and services we think may be of interest to you.  Aside from the foregoing, we will not contact you about other matters, unless you specifically request it, nor will we share, rent, or sell your personally identifiable information outside of our organization.

It is possible, though unlikely, that we may be required to disclose personally identifiable or non-personally identifiable information about you if we are required to do so by law, with respect to copyright and other intellectual property infringement claims, or if we believe that such action may be necessary to: (a) fulfill a government request; (b) conform with the requirements of the law or legal process; (c) protect or defend our legal rights or property, our Website, or other users; or (d) in an emergency to protect the health and safety of our Website's users or the general public.

Also, we cannot guarantee the protection of the information you send to us by means of unencrypted email, or that may be collectable in transit by others.

4. Links to Third-Party Sites
Our Website may link to or contain links to other third party websites that we do not control or maintain. We are not responsible for the privacy practices employed by any third party website. We encourage you to note when you leave our Website and to read the privacy statements of all third party websites before submitting any personally identifiable information.

5. Cookies
We automatically receive and store certain types of non-personally identifiable information whenever you interact with us. For example, like many websites, we use "cookies" to obtain certain types of information when your web browser accesses our Website.  "Cookies" are small files that we transfer to your computer's hard drive or your Web browser memory so we can remember who you are by your IP address, and to provide convenience and other features to you, such as recognizing you as a frequent user of our Website.   We use cookies to enable the personalization features on our Website and to collect anonymous, aggregated information to assist us in understanding how users use our Website.

It is important to note that the cookies that we use do not contain and are not tied to personally identifiable information.

Disabling Cookies.   If you are concerned about the storage and use of cookies, you may be able to direct your internet browser to notify you and seek approval whenever a cookie is being sent to your Web browser or hard drive. You may also delete a cookie manually from your hard drive through your internet browser or other programs. 6. Our Commitment to Security
We have implemented security measures we consider reasonable and appropriate to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.  We cannot, however, guarantee or warrant the security of any information you disclose or transmit to us online and are not responsible for the theft, destruction, or inadvertent disclosure of your personally identifiable information.  Whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online—for example, on message boards, forums, through email or in chat areas—that information can be collected and used by others.

7. Other Sites/Links
Our Website may link to or contain links to other third party websites that we do not control or maintain, such as in connection with purchasing products referenced on our Website and banner advertisements. We are not responsible for the privacy practices employed by any third party website. We encourage you to note when you leave our Website and to read the privacy statements of all third party websites before submitting any personally identifiable information.

8. Children Under 13
We have no way of distinguishing the age of individuals who access our Website.  The features, programs, promotions and other aspects of our Website requiring the submission of personally identifiable information are not intended for children.  We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.  If you are a parent or guardian of a child under the age of 13 and believe he or she has disclosed personally identifiable information to us please contact us at info@illumination-research.com. A parent or guardian of a child under the age of 13 may review and request deletion of such child's personally identifiable information as well as prohibit the use thereof, and also we carry out the same Privacy Policy.

9. Your California Privacy Rights
Residents of the State of California, under certain provisions of the California Civil Code, have the right to request from companies conducting business in California a list of all third parties to which the company has disclosed certain personally identifiable information as defined under California law during the preceding year for third party direct marketing purposes. You are limited to one request per calendar year. In your request, please attest to the fact that you are a California resident and provide a current California address for our response. 10. Forums
We may offer chat rooms, blogs, message boards, bulletin boards, or similar forums (collectively, “Forums”) where you and other users of our Website can communicate with us and each other. The protections described in this Privacy Policy do not apply when you post or otherwise make available information (including personal information) in our Forums.  We may use personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information about you to identify you with a posting in a Forum.  We retain postings on Forums for 30 days and then delete them from the site.  Any information you share in a Forum is public information and may be seen or collected by others, including third parties that do not adhere to our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for events arising from the distribution of any information you choose to publicly post or share through our Website.

11. Revisions to our Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date stated above.  We reserve the right to revise this policy or any part of it from time to time.  We will post a new or revised policy to our Website, and we suggest you review our Privacy Policy periodically when accessing our Website.

12. Contact & Opt-Out Information
You may contact us as at info@illumination-research.com if: (a) you have questions or comments about our Privacy Policy; (b) wish to view or make corrections to any personally identifiable information you have provided; (c) want to opt-out from receiving future commercial correspondence, including emails, from us or our affiliated companies; or (d) wish to withdraw your consent to sharing your personally identifiable information with others as described above. We will respond to your request and, if applicable and appropriate, make the requested change in our active databases as soon as reasonably practicable.  We retain your coursework information until the course is completed.  We will delete your coursework information within a reasonable time afterwards.  Keep in mind, however, that residual information may remain within our databases, access logs and other records for a limited time, which may or may not contain your personally identifiable information.  Please also note that we may not be able to fulfill certain requests while allowing you access to certain benefits and features of our Website.
